Course Details

National Lifeguard Instructor:

The National Lifeguard Instructor course prepares candidates to teach and evaluate National Lifeguard courses in the options that they hold (ie Pool, Waterfront etc.). 

In this 16 hour course, candidates will learn about the foundations of the National Lifeguard program and the principles and practices on which it is based. Candidates will demonstrate their lifeguarding skills, learn about planning courses and lessons, and demonstrate teaching approaches and techniques that are appropriate for National Lifeguard candidates. Candidates will implement all of their learnings in evaluated peer-teach sessions.

Cost: $190+tax per person, certification fee and National Lifeguard Award Guide included.

Course FAQ

Prerequisite:

National Lifeguard (any option) and Lifesaving Instructor (proof of certification required, certifications need not be current). 

Certification and Candidate Recognition: 

The National Lifeguard Instructor certification is considered current for 2 years. Successful candidates will receive a certification card. In order to recertify, Instructors must use the Lifesaving Society’s professional development credit system within 24 months of the certification date.
