Bronze Cross

Course Details

Bronze Cross:

Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. In this 20 hour course, candidates will strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills.

Candidates will learn and demonstrate the skills and techniques required for active surveillance of an aquatic environment. Bronze Cross builds teamwork and communication skills. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for:

  • National Lifeguard (any stream)
  • Assistant Instructor course
  • Swim Instructor course
  • Lifesaving Instructor course

Course FAQ

Prerequisite:

Bronze Medallion and either Emergency First Aid or Workplace Standard First Aid (proof of certifications required, certifications need not be current). 

Certification and Candidate Recognition: 

The Bronze Cross certification is considered current for 2 years. Successful candidates will receive a certification card. In order to recertify, candidates must complete a Bronze Cross recertification exam.

Canadian Lifesaving Manual (not included with registration, available for purchase as an extra item).

Other Required Equipment:

Whistle (not included with registration, available for purchase as an extra item).
