Course Details

First Aid Instructor:

The First Aid Instructor course prepares candidates to teach and evaluate the following First Aid courses:

  • Basic First Aid
  • CPR-A, CPR-B, and CPR-C
  • AED

The First Aid Instructor course also prepares candidates to teach, but NOT evaluate Workplace Standard First Aid.

In this 20 hour course, candidates will demonstrate their first aid skills, and learn about planning courses and lessons, teaching approaches and methods, and learner characteristics. Candidates will implement all of their learnings in peer-teaches.

Prerequisite:

Minimum 16 years of age (proof of age required), and Intermediate First Aid (proof of certifications required, certifications need not be current). 

Certification and Candidate Recognition: 

The First Aid Instructor certification is considered current for 2 years. Successful candidates will receive a certification card. In order to recertify, Instructors must use the Lifesaving Society’s professional development credit system within 24 months of the certification date.
