Course Details

Lifesaving Instructor:
The Lifesaving Instructor course prepares candidates to teach and evaluate the following courses:
- Rookie, Ranger, and Star Patrol (Canadian Swim Patrol Program)
- Bronze Star
- Lifesaving Fitness
- Basic and Emergency First Aid
- CPR-A, CPR-B, and CPR-C
Lifesaving Instructors teach all items in Distinction, Bronze Medallion, and Bronze Cross and evaluate some of these items, but only Examiners may certify candidates in these awards.
In this 20 hour course, candidates will demonstrate their lifesaving skills, and learn about planning courses and lessons, teaching approaches and methods, and learner characteristics. Candidates will implement all of their learnings in peer-teaches.
The Lifesaving Instructor Certification is a prerequisite for the National Lifeguard Instructor course.

Course FAQ
Prerequisite:
Minimum 15 years of age (proof of age required), and Bronze Cross (proof of certification required, certifications need not be current).
Certification and Candidate Recognition:
The Lifesaving Instructor certification is considered current for 2 years. Successful candidates will receive a certification card. In order to recertify, Instructors must use the Lifesaving Society’s professional development credit system within 24 months of the certification date.
