Course Details

National Lifeguard – Pool:

The National Lifeguard – Pool certification is designed to develop the values, judgment, knowledge, skills, and fitness required by lifeguards. In this 40 hour course, candidates will improve their physical fitness, build their knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of lifeguards, and appropriate rescue response procedures and practices in pool environments.

The course is designed to emphasize teamwork and improve judgment and decision-making skills that will assist lifeguards in providing effective safety supervision and initiating early intervention. National Lifeguard – Pool  is a prerequisite for:

  • National Lifeguard – Waterpark
  • National Lifeguard Instructor (for those wanting to teach the Pool option)

Course FAQ

Prerequisite:

Minimum 15 years of age (proof of age required), Bronze Cross, and Workplace Standard First Aid (proof of certifications required, certifications need not be current).  

Certification and Candidate Recognition: 

The National Lifeguard – Pool certification is considered current for 2 years. Successful candidates will receive a certification card. In order to recertify, candidates must complete a Bronze Cross recertification exam.

Canadian Lifesaving Manual (not included with registration, available for purchase as an extra item).

Other Required Equipment:

Whistle, pocket mask, fanny pack (included with registration).
